Question Why does my Norton Internet Security Trial Version ignore some obvious viruses?
I saw it scan a file called Spyware.DesktopScout and when i Googled it, i found that it has a high risk impact yet the antivirus didn’t do anything to remove it; all it cares about are the tracking cookies it just found. Why is that? I am running on Windows 7, by the way.

The Best Answer It might Norton is more of a Community based thing so more likely its new or hasn’t been reported to the community other wise the sonar would have taken care of it. NIS 2010 today is pretty amazing I’ve tried to put viruses on my computer in different ways and nothing has gotten threw.

Try this…
Right click on the file and click Norton File Insight, i should be just above properties, and look around there, and if u don’t have NIS 2010 maybe that’s why its not updating. 🙂

And to the other posters, AVG Free is pretty bad, yes Norton DID suck, it was easily corruptible and actually put viruses on your computer, but not anymore as far as I’ve seen its #1 for Range and Power, Epically now with the new Sonar and Insight Protection.
